WordPress: Free Themes or Premium Themes?

April 28th, 2011 by Jae Smith

It is understandable that when starting out in business, you need to monitor expenses. Albeit, to be a successful entrepreneur, investing in your business is essential. As a personal coach, I encountered so many new entrepreneurs that had the potential to be savvy web marketers (once they grew up) but had no idea how to set up a blog or site using advanced marketing strategies associated with giving value and getting results. These newcomers thought it was about having a pretty blog without any sales psychology or motivation to follow. Hence, they would choose a free WordPress template above getting a premium template–AND it was being offered WITHOUT CHARGE.

That is when I decided to stop doing personal coaching for free and start focusing more on businesses and individuals that understood that I could setup a WordPress blog and all of the content, keywords and SEO along with it and was willing to pay me for my services and advice. It is ironic how the newcomers that I was helping without charge were trying to advise me of what was best for them because they were making business decisions based on their lack and how little money they’ve got rather than investing a couple of nominal services that would help their business tremendously.

Losing the enthusiasm and passion to build their blogs, I simply stop coaching them while losing communication with them because although they wanted their blogs built for free, they would not listen to the advice I knew would help them. I could not build it wrong as it was being proposed to me from inexperience newbies that didn’t know their cooch from a hole in the ground. The greatest lack of knowledge is that most of them insisted on my building their blog using a WordPress free theme when I was offering Thesis WordPress theme on my own dime. So the question begs, is it worth paying for a WordPress theme versus using a free theme?

Why should you pay for a WordPress theme when there are many decent-looking free themes out there to choose from? Can you really justify why anyone should ever pay for a WordPress theme when your budget is on a budget? Well, that depends. If all you are looking for are aesthetics rather than functionality, I say jump in on all fours and go for it. See, many free themes have many limitations as far as replacing the header, other images, SEO and ranking, which many times are at issue. Every time I have put so much effort into building a blog with a free theme, invariably, I find something that just won’t work.

When I discovered the functionalities of many Premium themes, I quickly gave WordPress free themes the boot and started
building blogs based on the features I needed that would cause greater visibility in Google, sharing in Social Media and adding
content and mobile enabled content with ease, As mentioned earlier, Thesis is the most versatile paid WordPress theme I have used although there a great number of other Premium themes available. Where free themes are available, there is no support if you are not savvy enough to make the theme work or if you should run into a problem. And you WILL run into a problem that you can’t fix without an inordinate amount of reseach that you may or may not find. With all Premium themes, there is support, forums and tutorials to help you figure it all out. Plus, your blog does what it supposed to do–make it easy for you to post content, sales letters, videos and share. Moderating your blog should not be a full-time job to setup and maintain. That’s where Premium themes rescue the day.

Other WordPress themes are Flexibility, Headway, WooThemes and Profit Themes if you are building them yourself. If you really want to take it to the next level and really “pimp” your blog, then get with Empowered Blogs or Jonathan Budd Design. I advise to you only the services and tools that i use to be a successful online entrepreneur. Stand out from the crowd and be the true, empowered leader you were created to be! Get a Premium WordPress theme or a WordPress designer service to make your brand shine online!

Chris Farrell – iFrames Simplicity

April 23rd, 2011 by Jae Smith

I had the honor of attending Chris Farrell’s webinar today and was inspired to share his knowledge about the new and much enravening iFrames that have been abuzz in the market for about a year now. In this webinar, prepare to learn how to create a Facebook app and fan page then configuring them to lead to your web site or blog

Don’t worry if you are a technophobe. Chris takes you from technophobic to techno-savvy in “paint-by-numbers” fashion. Learning iFrames with the effervescent Englishman (who deserves the gorgeous voice award) is as simple as falling off of a log. Okay, well, it takes a couple of tricks but it doesn’t involve pulling a ‘rabbit out of the hat,” so to speak. Nor does it require a NASA degree of science.

If you still think you can’t conquer iFrames, of course, there is an even simpler solution for building your fan page , therefore, building your list. Best of all, the only thing it will cost you is a “like” on Chris Farrell’s fan page. No strings.

Chris is one of the Internet Marketing leaders in true form, who doesn’t try to pilfer you for profits. He delivers the goods regarding generating traffic and training you for Internet Marketing success without holding out on you. I have paid thousands and thousands of dollars for the expertise and knowledge that Chris gives away either free or affordably. The value of his information is more than sufficiently surpassing.

Let’s take the next step and see how easy and de-mystifying using iFrames is. Keep watch for the iFrames webinar. The replay link for this will be available in just a few short hours. You can reach Chris Farrell at: http://bit.ly/chrisfarrell-iframes to see his Internet Marketing archives including the iFrames webinar.
